The ports of Barcelona and Shanghai strengthen their alliance with the signing of a strategic agreement

The Port of Barcelona, Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission (SMTC), and Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) signed a strategic cooperation agreement, formally establishing a "sister ports" relationship between Barcelona and Shanghai. The partnership will advance collaboration on port digitalization, security, green port development, alternative fuels, intermodal transport, and sustainable maritime corridors. Building on earlier agreements and work on a green shipping and a digital corridor between the two ports, the initiative aims to strengthen trade, logistics, and sustainability links between Europe and Asia.
