Anemoi Marine Technologies will install a 35-metre-high Rotor Sail on an 8,700-TEU Maersk Lima class container vessel, marking the technology’s first use on a container vessel. Scheduled for mid-2027, the pilot will operate primarily on North and South Atlantic routes. The wind-assisted propulsion system uses aerodynamic lift to generate additional thrust, potentially reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Maersk will use the pilot to assess the technology’s relevance for their fleet and for wider adoption across container shipping.
